Welcome to another MindFULL Movement Monday!

Utkata Konasana aka. Goddess Pose or Fiery Angle Pose brings a presence of deep connection. I have found that I connect on a deeper level when I am outside in the beautiful surrounding of Mother Nature.

Beginners

Please remember to move Slowly and do not push your body beyond your limit. Use any form of modification below to feel good in this pose.

You can begin this pose with keeping your feet flat on the ground, turning your toes out and your heels in. Continue to focus on your balance and breathing. I also recommend you placing your hands in prayer pose right in front of you, shown in the picture below.

Slowly bend your knees sinking your hips to the height of your knees. The goal is not the pose itself. Keep your spine straight and think about drawing your tailbone to the floor. This will help keep you from bending forward. Engage your core while you hold this position.

For those women whom are pregnant, this pose can help prepare you for childbirth. Stretching your hips and inner legs, what a beautiful way to connect yourself to you and your child. Find your sense of center while strengthening your pelvic floor.

Modifications

1. Place a chair in front of you. Rest one of two of your hands on the back of the chair to help maintain your balance.

2. Place your back up against a wall before performing. This will help keep your spine straight.

3. Arms: Raise them above your head stretching for the sky

4. Arms: Rest them on your hips

5. Arms: Press your hands in prayer position above your head

Intermediate

As you continue to discover your balance overtime, you can start adding other variations. As you will see in my photo above, I added a toe balance while stretching my arms up with a form of a twist.

I have found many variations to this pose on Pinterest and Instagram.

MindFULLness

This pose brings out an energy that screams invigorating. The word "Utkata" means powerful or fierce.
